What stays on your phone

Your prayer journal, verse notes and highlights, memorized verses, reading-plan progress, and the list of apps you choose to block are stored only on your device. They are never sent to us or anyone else. Your account details (name, email address, and a hashed, non-reversible version of your password) are also stored on your device — we never see your actual password.

What we collect to improve the app

We use PostHog, a product-analytics service, to understand how the app is used so we can make it better. When you use the app, it sends PostHog:

• your name and email address, so your activity is grouped under your account;
• how you use the app — for example when you open it, complete your daily reading, your streak and total days, which reading mode or plan you use, which features you use (such as topic searches and sharing), and the buttons and screens you tap;
• your App Blocker settings — whether it is on and which days of the week it is scheduled (never which apps you block or how you use them);
• device information such as device type, operating system, and an approximate location (city or country) derived from your internet connection.

Analytics are only collected in the app itself, never when someone simply visits this website.

Other services we use

HubSpot — when you create an account, your first name and email address are added to our mailing list. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.

EmailJS — sends password-reset codes to your email address, and delivers feedback you choose to send us (with your name, email, rating, message, and basic app stats such as your streak) to our inbox.

Content providers — the app downloads Bible text, audio, and fonts from content services (including Cloudflare and Google Fonts). Like any download, these requests include your device's internet address, but no account information.

How we use your information

To improve the app and see which features help people read Scripture daily, to fix problems, to respond to feedback and data requests, and to send occasional emails from our mailing list.

What we never do

We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising or share it with others for advertising. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. Your prayer journal and notes never leave your device.

Screen Time & app usage

Scripture Before Scroll does not collect, store, or transmit Screen Time usage data. If you enable the App Blocker (which uses Apple's Screen Time framework on iOS or Android's accessibility service), the apps you select are stored on your device only as anonymous system tokens — we never see or transmit the names of the apps you use or how often you use them. The only App Blocker information we receive is whether it is turned on and which days it is scheduled.

Your rights & deleting your data

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete My Account. This erases everything on your device and asks us to delete your analytics and mailing-list records; we complete that within 30 days. If you no longer have the app, email us from the address on your account with the subject “Delete my account” and we will delete everything we hold within 30 days. You can also email us at any time to see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you: scripturebeforescroll@gmail.com.

Children's privacy

Scripture Before Scroll is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and the date below.
